Natural Beauty that Fits Any Style
Hardwood has its own mind. It can shrink, expand, warp, fade, crack, and requires an experienced installer to understand its nuances. These reasons are why many installers shy away from it. Working with wood flooring is a joy. We enjoy installing, finishing, and refinishing the floor, as well as basking in it’s natural beauty.
Types of Hardwood Flooring:
Solid hardwood flooring is 100% natural and has a lasting look
Solid hardwood flooring is made of 100% natural wood and comes as a single solid piece. Solid hardwood can be made from a variety of species including oak, cherry hickory maple birch, and many more. Many businesses choose solid hardwood flooring because it can be sanded, refinished and maintained multiple times. Solid hardwood can contract or expand due to changes in humidity or moisture. Businesses should not install solid hardwood in places that are prone to moisture or humidity.
Engineered hardwood floors: Install with confidence and flexibility
Engineered hardwood, unlike solid hardwood, is composed of multiple layers, made of the same wood or different species. The grain of each layer of wood runs in a different direction, so engineered hardwood is less susceptible than solid hardwood to shrinkage and expansion caused by changes in temperature or moisture.
It is possible to sand and refinish engineered hardwood flooring, but this will be less frequently than with solid hardwood. Engineered hardwood flooring is a popular option because it’s easy to install, and it can go over a variety of subfloors.
